Blog Rules
Generally, blogs do not have many rules, the spontaneous interchange of information is part of their appeal. Usually, a short warning about decorum is the only formal statement. That said, there are plenty of unwritten rules that help most blogs run slightly more smoothly than say, conversations between baseball managers and umpires.
Rule #1: Be very, very, very nice. You are representing General Clark by your behavior. A lot of people just hang around and read the posts. Imagine one of them is your mother, if that helps.
Rule #2:   You do not have to post. Feel free to sit on the sidelines while you get a feeling for how the discussion works, and when you feel ready, please don't hesitate.
Rule #3:   Identify yourself, but you may want to protect your email address. Some might find it rude to post without telling who you are, but you can use your homepage to provide a mail link back to you if you need that.
Rule #4:   Try to stay on topic. The topic is usually listed at the top of the blog. Get a new topic started if you have to.
Rule #5:   Ignore anyone who is displaying bad behavior. In internet parlance, these people are called "trolls" and the best response is to do nothing but alert the moderator so that they can deal with the situation. Remember, there is a difference between being a troll and displaying a dissenting opinion. Sometimes it can be a fine line.
Rule #6:   Take overly personal conversations to email. . .
Rule #7:   If you have been very active on the blog, announce when you leave for the day, or leave for the night.
